Intersectoral Water Allocation in the Tana River Basin PDF Print E-mail
Mr Jeremiah Kiptala has recently completed his MSc thesis entitled “Intersectoral Water Allocation in the Tana River Basin” at UNESCO-IHE. This study focuses on the Seven Forks Project in the Tana river basin in Kenya. It consists of a cascade of seven reservoirs and hydropower stations located in the middle part of the Tana River basin and currently generating three quarters of Kenya’s electricity. A SDDP model was developed
  • to analyze the hydrological risk faced by downstream irrigation development projects
  • to quantify the impacts of high sedimentation rates in Masinga, the most upstream reservoir, on energy generation and crop irrigation
