Aquaplan team visisted Mekong River Commission Secretariat

The MRC Secretariat in Vientiane, Lao PDR

The team spent one week at the Mekong River Commission Secretariat (MRCS) in Vientiane (Laos PDR) at the end of May 2007.

The purpose of this mission was to meet MRCS staff members and to present our research activities.

Several seminars were organized on optimization methods in water resources planning and management, trade-off and risk assessment, operation of hydropower plants in regulated and deregulated electricity markets.

Members of the Lao National Mekong River Commission organized a technical visit of the Nam Ngum 2 dam.

A database of the Lower Mekong River Basin (LMRB) is now being set up with the objective of implementing the Aquaplan optimization model to the LMRB.
