It determines optimal water allocation policies in multipurpose multireservoir systems taking into account :

AquaPlan assumes coordinated management of the water resources system. It maximizes the net benefits of system operation over a given planning period (monthly time steps and planning horizon > 1 year). Individual representation of reservoirs, hydropower plants, irrigation areas, irrigated crops are taken into account. The code manages several energy markets with their own prices (short-run marginal costs) if needed.
